Meet the Advisors

The TFP Helpline is staffed by advisors who are highly experienced in property management and have an excellent grasp of housing law, providing practical first line support. This service does not provide "legal" advice and a solicitor should be consulted for cases going to court.


David d'Orton Gibson

David has worked for many years in the letting industry and has first-hand experience of most roles involved in lettings. For the last 23 years, he has worked full time running training and consultancy for landlords and agents throughout England and Wales. He teaches public courses as well as running In House courses for local authorities, letting agents, landlord associations, housing associations, colleges and other bodies. Widely respected for his technical knowledge and teaching style, David combines an authoritative understanding of the legal framework with practical suggestions on working with people and presents in an engaging style.

Mel Izzard

Mel was previously working as a Lettings Property Manager for 5 years both in London and Dorset, the newest member of the TFP team, her role as a Lettings Consultant will see Mel becoming more involved in the technical aspects of lettings and increase her knowledge and understanding of the lettings legislation whilst also supporting our helpline service. Susan Osborne

Susan graduated in 1985 and spent a number of years in business and industry before getting the “lettings-bug” in 1993 when she became a landlord. Her interest in lettings grew and Susan moved to work in lettings with a local estate agent before establishing her own letting agency in 2000 where she is still a Director. Susan was pleased to join the TFP Helpline team in 2015 where she particularly enjoys helping agents understand the legal framework and find fair and practical solutions to the problems they may encounter.

Nigel Pope

Nigel has been in the property industry since 1990 and set up his own letting agency in 1994. Quickly recognising the ongoing need for improvement and training, Nigel was a regular user of all of TFP’s services. After successfully merging his property business in 2015, he has now moved away from full time work in the day to day processes so he can now concentrate on providing industry training, whilst volunteering on various sporting committee’s in Kent.

Richard Pullin

Richard has worked in the Property Industry since 1994. Until 2016 he owned and ran a successful Lettings Agency in the South West before taking the decision to sell and focus on his own small property portfolio. Richard joined the helpline in 2018 and enjoys working with TFP clients to resolve property management issues as well as staying conversant with the latest legislation affecting the Industry.

Andrew Sainsbury

Andrew has worked in residential lettings for most of his career. After finishing university, he cut his teeth at a large national agency chain, before moving on to join a start-up agency in the East Midlands in 2005. Later, he was pivotal in opening their second branch in Leeds and is now a Director and part owner of the same highly regarded firm. Andrew combines his passion for keeping up to date with the latest legislation with his knowledge of the practical issues of property management.

Nick Sharp

Nick worked in the lettings industry for 17 years as a Property Manager & Branch Manager in London and Dorset, before joining TFP to further his interest in the technical aspects of the industry. Nick will be focusing on the TFP Helpline, the running of training courses and additional projects related to new legislation.

Tony Wilson

Tony’s career before joining the Training for Professionals Team, started in 1987 as a letting consultant for a large independent letting agency in Bournemouth progressing to the role of Poole Office branch manager, responsible for a sizeable letting and property management team, following a corporate acquisition of the business then asked to set up and run a large regional property management centre. During his time in the industry Tony has acquired a wide range of customer service and management experience, overseen the introduction and implementation of the many changes to residential letting regulations and procedures. He has brought his wide-ranging knowledge and experience to benefit our TFP clients on training courses and the helpline.
