We have seen the First Tier Tribunal awarding rent repayment orders (RRO) in ever increasing numbers which often sees the tenant awarded many thousand of pounds. The Rakusen v Jepsen case recently came to its conclusions in the Court of Appeal July 2021. Come and learn the reason when and why the tenant may seek an RRO, what they may be entitled to, who may be required to pay and the common themes highlighted by these recent judgements.

We will explain the importance of the Court of Appeal case, Leeds City v Broadley, which ruled that landlords are not responsible for paying council tax on a property when a tenant moves out PROVIDED they have the right tenancy agreement.
