Meet the Team

The office team at TFP.

In addition to our trainers and helpline advisors, who are based around the country, the following team members work from our offices in Dorset.

David d’Orton-Gibson

Managing Director and Trainer

David has worked for many years in the letting industry and has first-hand experience of most roles involved in lettings. Since 1996, he has worked full time running training and consultancy for landlords and agents throughout England and Wales. He teaches public courses as well as running In House courses for local authorities, letting agents, landlord associations, housing associations, colleges and other bodies.

Widely respected for his technical knowledge and teaching style, David combines an authoritative understanding of the legal framework, with practical suggestions on working with people, and presents in an engaging style.

Mel Izzard

Lettings Consultant

Mel was previously working as a Lettings Property Manager, having moved to Dorset with her family in 2016. Her role as a Lettings Consultant will see Mel becoming more involved in the technical aspects of lettings and increase her knowledge and understanding of the lettings legislation.

Nick Sharp

Lettings Consultant

Nick worked in the lettings industry for 17 years as a Property Manager & Branch Manager in London and Dorset, before joining TFP to further his interest in the technical aspects of the industry. Nick will be focusing on the TFP Helpline, the running of training courses and additional projects related to new legislation.

Tony Wilson

Lettings Consultant

Tony Wilson brings decades of letting industry expertise to Training for Professionals (TFP), helping agents and landlords stay informed, compliant, and competitive. His lettings career began in 1987 for a large independent agency in Bournemouth, later became Branch Manager of their Poole office, leading a sizeable lettings and property management team. Following a corporate acquisition, Tony was tasked to establishing and run a large regional property management centre.

With extensive experience in customer service, management, and the ever-evolving lettings regulations, Tony has been at the forefront of industry changes. At TFP, he delivers expert training across England and Wales through webinars, tailored face to face and virtual courses, along with technical support. He is also on the TFP team developing essential tenancy agreement and support documents as well as providing expert guidance via the TFP helpline.

Tony’s passion for raising industry standards aligns perfectly with TFP’s vision—empowering professionals with integrity, knowledge, and innovative support.

Sarah Thomson

Administration

Sarah has worked in the admin field for many years providing administrative duties to various companies over the years, in particular she worked as PA to the Managing Director of a very successful London company. Sarah provides essential administrative support to our team here at Training for Professionals.


Wendy Atkinson

Accounts

Wendy has worked for Training for Professionals since 2006 in various roles. Previously employed by a Management Company in Skipton, North Yorkshire.
