Is a landlord’s EIC for a new consumer unit sufficient to let out? The Electrical Safety Standards Regulations for the PRS for England require landlords to provide tenants with a report that the electrical installation in their rented properties have been inspected and tested by a qualified and competent person at least every 5 years along with details of any subsequent maintenance. An electrical installation certificate (EIC) for a new consumer unit alone is not a full electrical installation condition report and so will not satisfy the regulations. An EIC for a full electrical installation does though meet the requirements. Published by Tony Wilson
